Deaf awareness in sport helps clubs create safer, more inclusive and connected environments. It breaks down communication barriers, improves accessibility, builds understanding, and empowers Deaf and hard of hearing participants to take part with confidence.
This interactive virtual workshop helps teams understand Deaf and hard of hearing experiences in sport, build practical communication skills, learn everyday and sport-specific NZSL, and create a more confident, respectful and inclusive team culture.

“We recently participated in the Game On! Deaf Awareness in Sports Workshop hosted by the Deaf and Hard of Hearing Foundation (DHHF), and it was an incredibly valuable experience.
The workshop provided us with the tools and knowledge needed to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for our members. It was not only educational but also impactful in enhancing our staff’s skills and confidence in working with the Deaf and hard of hearing communities.
Based on our experience, we would highly recommend this workshop to other sport and recreation organisations.”
