What's a Sound Monkey?

The Sound Monkey is a sound monitoring device designed for classrooms and play areas. With a simple traffic light system featured in the Monkey's mouth, children can easily see when noise levels are safe or potentially harmful to their ears.

The Sound Monkey also comes with an app that generates a fun interactive weekly report that teachers and kids can review to see how well they've managed harmful sounds.

Why it matters

  • 1 billion young people globally are at risk of hearing loss from unsafe listening
  • Nearly 60% of hearing loss is preventable with early education and intervention
  • 193 Kiwi preschools are already using Sound Monkeys - your centre could be next

Feedback from preschools

"The children just love the Sound Monkey and keep an eye on its smile. They are very quick to notice the change of colour and tell staff. The older children tell the younger children that they have to be quiet because the monkey's smile has changed."
